Retina Case of the month
A 36 yrs old gentleman presented to Dr Pratik Mahajan with mild disturbances in visual field in the Right Eye since last 15 days. He had visited multiple doctors and treated for dry eye and with anti-glaucoma medications.On eamination we found both eyes visual acuity 6/6, N/6.Dialated Indirect ophthalmoscopy with scleral depression revealed a Subtotal retinal detachment with attached macula with a break at 2 o clock position. Left eye was normal.

The Challenge
To save right eye from blindness. To screen other eye at regular intervals and prevent retinal detachment by treating any suspicious lesion.

The Treatment
We advised him immediate surgical intervention. He took time to think. He presented after one week. Unfortunately macula was shallow -off till then.He was operated: scleral buckling +subretinal fluid drainage+cryopexy under local anesthesia with sedation

The Outcome
The patient is doing well with totally attached retina and best corrected visual acuity of better than 6/12 with slight discomfort, one month post oeratively.
